Itanoní is a charming Mexican restaurant nestled in the heart of Oaxaca de Juárez, known for its dedication to fresh and traditional ingredients, particularly maize. Located on Av Belisario Domínguez, this spot has garnered rave reviews from patrons who highlight its exceptional value and quality. Diners are treated to a delightful array of dishes, including the standout tetelas and quesadilla filled with Flor de calabaza. The tortillas are so fresh that you can savor their authenticity with every bite. Customers appreciate the unassuming atmosphere, where friendly service and quick delivery enhance the experience. The outdoor seating offers a lovely ambiance, but those seated near the open kitchen are in for a visual treat as they watch their meals being expertly prepared. Reviewers like Bruce Knoph laud the restaurant for its historical ties to traditional recipes, making each dish a homage to Oaxacan culinary culture. The drinks, particularly the cacao offerings, are a must-try, complementing the flavorful meals perfectly. As Evan La Ruffa puts it, Itanoní is super special—any visit is incomplete without indulging in their renowned tascalate. Overall, Itanoní captures the essence of Oaxacan cuisine, making it a must-visit for both locals and travelers alike.

Really good fresh food at a really good price. The server was very friendly and recommended tetelas and a quesadilla with Flor de calabaza, which were all delicious. The tortillas are so fresh! Bonus: you can watch the food being prepared near the dining area.

Super special. Wildly fresh, hot, served fast in a super unassuming setting. Super affordable too. All the dishes are fresh and delicious, we will be going back before we leave town. Try the tascalate!

Had an absolutely incredible experience here with Gabriella. Really neat to see such a passion for history and traditional maize. If you are a Spanish speaker, I highly recommend the tasting experience. You won’t regret it!

I went for breakfast early in the morning when they’re not busy, and the service was friendly and fast. The outdoor space is lovely but the seat by the open kitchen gives you a close view of the making process which is very cool. I enjoyed their specialty tetelas and the Oaxaca specialty memelitas. Also try their cacao drinks!

Excellent local traditional food. Friendly service. Try the tetela de hongos. Sit near the oven in front to watch your food being made

I loved it! We ordered a tamal de frijoles (best tamal I ever had and I’m Mexican). The tetelas were also delicious. Everything was very tasty

Excellent restaurant serving traditional Oaxacan food. Known for their use of different & preparations of corn. I had a classic memelita with queso de Chiapas (kinda funky & good strong flavor) as well as a quesadilla with pork fat & epazote. Both delicious. Cash only. Recommended!
